Planche Push-Up
Posted By: JimNovember 20th, 2009

One-armed pushups? Child’s Play. One-armed chinups? I don’t sweat that. Blowing up a car with your mind? Amateur hour. You want a real challenge then pay attention to the Planche Pushup.

It’s basically a normal pushup, except your feet aren’t on the ground ha. The only two contact points your body has with the ground are your hands. If that’s not making any sense, then check out this planche pushup progression video. Read the rest of this entry »

Getting Ready for the Summer (Part 2: The Workout)
Posted By: KilmerJune 4th, 2009

This could be you! ... one dayWalking to quiznos ain’t no thing but a chicken wing, running to the gas station to get a snickers isn’t sprinting, and shuffling around behind your desired guy/girl at da club isn’t resistance training. Get pumped, now that your diet should be a bit improved from part 1 of the series(if not remember, abs are made in the kitchen not the weight room), now comes the next part: working out. “I’m on a diet” doesn’t cut it as your plan for looking good for the summer. Your plan of attack should consist of exercising three-six days a week. “Oh noez! I don’t have time for that between video games, reading cosmo, and taking out the trash!” well suck it up, you gotta put the work in. Sucka.

The Arnold Press
Posted By: JimMay 12th, 2009

AhhhnoldDon’t lie, you all wish you could carry a big ass rocket launcher on your shoulder too. Well good news, with the Arnold Press you’ll be “John Matrix-ing” shit in no time. Ok so that’s obviously a slight exaggeration, deal with it. The Arnold Press is a variation of a basic shoulder or military press, it was indeed created by the Governator himself and is a favorite of many personal trainers. I myself use the Arnold Press, but I usually only do shoulders once a week, so I don’t get to do it too often. Either way let’s get into it….

Lunge Variation
Posted By: JimMay 5th, 2009

So I’ve always been more of an upper body kind of guy in the gym. Sure I did cardio and some other scattered exercises that worked my lower body, but it was all about beach muscle physique for me. Besides, I had always played soccer, skied, biked, ran track, whatever it may have been and my legs always stayed pretty strong and in shape. Now I’m not saying I’m going to become a lower body freak, because I’ve really stepped up my cardio game and I do a bunch of leg exercises as is, but on my full body days I’m gunna toss in a couple new exercises, one of which I want to talk about now. Exercise of the day: Single Arm Cable Extension
Posted By: NashJuly 17th, 2008

Today’s exercise of the day is the single arm cable extension, which is an excellent shoulder exercise. I especially like it because it replaces the dumb bell shoulder extensions, which never seem to get any easier.

Exercise of the day: Front Rope Shoulder Raise
Posted By: NashJuly 8th, 2008

The front rope shoulder raise is a great exercise which can replace front dumbbell or barbell raises during your shoulder workout. Always make sure to perform it in a slow controlled motion, and you’ll feel it. I don’t think I would ever stick to only this exercise in terms of front raise shoulder exercises, but its nice to throw in now and again.

Exercise of the day: Front Barbell Raise HD
Posted By: NashJune 17th, 2008

Today’s exercise of the day is the “front barbell raise” which is a great exercise for shoulders. I suggest doing this exercise with maybe only 2 or 3 other shoulder exercises for a full shoulder workout (such as military press, side lifts, and shrugs). Exercise of the day: Reverse Barbell Curl
Posted By: NashMay 22nd, 2008

Firstly, I’d like to apologize for our recent lack of updates. Jimbo and I just graduated, and have had to get a lot of stuff in order. We’ve also been hard at work preparing a sub-blog you’ll hear more about soon.

Anyway, today’s video exercise of the day, is the reverse barbell curl. This is a great exercise to mix up your bicep workout. It really focuses on the side of your arm (your bicep being the top, and triceps being the bottom) and hits muscle fibers which most other bicep exercises do not.
