Heres a new series I’ll be writing about fast food. I don’t know about you, but I’m a guy, and even though I workout and lift weights, and try to be careful with what I eat, I still love the occasional fast food meal.
Whenever I go out to eat, I always wonder what item on the menu has the most protein. It may be neurotic, but considering I’m always trying to consume more protein, its consistently on my mind. Getting a meal at a fast food restaurant, I generally assumed it was such complete crap that there wasn’t really much protein. Well, I was dead wrong.
In this article I’ll highlight the highest protein meals in each category (burgers, sides etc.) which the fast food chain offers.
This week I’m starting with Burger King, because the King is awesome. Continue reading for the stats!
Please keep in mind, the highest protein meals, generally seem to be the least healthy (in terms of fat and sodium and amount of calories).
Burgers
- The Triple Whopper Sandwich with cheese has 73 grams of protein (its also 1090 calories, without mayo).
Chicken - Fish - Veggie
- The Tendergrill Chicken Sandwich has 36 grams of protein (coming in at 400 calories without mayo).
Side Orders
- The 12 pc Cheesy Tots contain the most protein of all side orders, and are relatively healthy (compared to french fries and onion rings). They have 14 grams of protein, and 430 calories.
Salads
- The clear winner (of all menu items), is the Tendergrill salad. It has 33 grams of protein, and is only 240 calories (w/out dressing…)!
Dessert
- While the desserts seem to be tied, the Hershey’s Sunday Pie comes in first place, with a monstrous 3 grams of protein, and 310 calories.
Breakfast
- The Enormous Omelet Sandwich wins here, 37 grams of protein and 730 calories.
