In case you couldn’t tell, a certain yogymbo writer who shall remain anonymous (there are
only two of us by the way) really likes forearms. I find this interesting because he in fact has a girlfriend, but that’s for another post. Anyhow, I figured I’d write a little something about a body part that I’m more of a fan of than Nash, and that would be your trapezius muscles. Now I’m not saying I want to have those massive roid traps that engulf your entire neck, but it’s a muscle that I feel like you can get some nice definition with and I think they just look pretty cool.
There’s no need to do a huge trap workout, especially if you’re like me and you’re just trying to get a nice shoulder profile. Here’s my current trap workout:
12 reps 80lb dumbbell shrugs
12 reps 70lb dumbbell shrugs
12 reps 60lb dumbbell shrugs
12 reps 50lb dumbbell shrugs
** I take about a 5-10 second break between sets, it’s a very fast routine**
After I run through this once I’ll usually take a break for 90 seconds and then do it again. I know this might sound like a lot, 8 sets and all, but it’s really not a lot of weight for me, and it really just feels like one extra long set.
I am looking for a new trap workout though, so if anyone has any suggestions then let me know. I’ve done barbell shrugs, high pulls, and I’ve tried a couple others, but if anyone has anything that they like doing then by all means let me know.
