So as promised last night Nash and I attempted the 300 rep workout and it was the hardest overall workout I’ve ever tried. Below is a video of the workout, we filmed it to show how a first attempt might look, and proper form.

300 Workout from YOGYMBO.COM on Vimeo.

The workout took us about an hour and a half and here’s my breakdown (each number represents a different set)

Pullups: 15, 6, 4

Deadlifts: 20, 15, 15

Pushups: 50

Floor Wipers: 15, 15, 10, 10

Box Jumps: 40, 10

Clean and Press: 20, 15, 15

Pullups: 12, 8, 5

300As you can see it took me multiple sets to get through almost all of these exercises. The way we worked it was that as soon as I stopped Nash jumped on, then once he couldn’t go any more I hopped back on. We also took a minute or two between exercises to set things up and catch our breath. When I went into this workout I thought for sure the pullups would be the worst just because I don’t usually do them…I was wrong. I ran into a massive brick wall with the deadlifts, by the time I was done with the deadlifts my back, legs, and ass were just killing me. Normally this wouldn’t be a huge issue, but if you look later in the workout, the box jumps are all legs, and the clean and press is a very similar motion to the deadlift, so both of those exercises were just that much more killer.

The floor wipers were a great total body workout. Not only does it work a variety of ab muscles, but your chest, shoulders, and triceps get a nice little exercise while you’re holding the weight above your head.

The clean and press didn’t really seem too difficult when I was doing them, but I can tell you that you definitely feel them the next day.

Overall the workout was rediculously hard and we didn’t even come close to running it non stop. You really work up a sweat and it’s a great full body workout, especially for toning. That said, I wouldn’t do this more than once every two or three weeks. The reason for that is that there is very little weight training involved, and very little arms and chest. I really enjoy upper body weight training and this just doesn’t do it for me. It’s a really fun workout, and the most challenging workout I’ve ever attempted (you know it’s a crazy workout when you look forward to doing 50 straight pushups), and I’ll definitely keep doing it and trying to get better though. I know Nash wants to say a couple things about it, so I’ll stop here and let him take over.

I agree with everything Jimbo said. I felt like I was about to be sick on multiple occasions during the workout. It was a lot of fun, but I was undoubtedly unprepared. Next time I do this, I’ll plan on getting it done much faster.

So let me just reiterate here…I tried to sit down today and I could barely bend my back enough to get in the chair…and then I had to try to get back up…damn
